Regular Pilates practitioners
You practise Pilates regularly, you are aged 18 or over, and you are ready to learn how to teach it.
Fitness and movement professionals
You already work with clients and want Pilates as a recognised Level 3 qualification, with a regular Pilates practice of your own.
Prerequisite: A regular Pilates practice, and aged 18 or over.

What you will learn

Foundations and history
The origins of the work, Joseph Pilates' principles and the modern landscape.

Functional anatomy
Skeletal structure, muscles and fascia, applied on the mat.

Biomechanics and movement analysis
Reading bodies, finding restrictions and choosing the right interventions.

The original Contrology repertoire
The matwork exercises with progressions and regressions for every body.

Cueing and corrections
Verbal, visual and tactile cueing, and when to step in and when to hold back.

Planning, delivering and evaluating sessions
Structuring a class, pacing, intention and transitions, then reflecting on how it went.

One-to-one clients
How to design and deliver a structured 10-session programme for a bespoke one-to-one client.

Supervised teaching practice
Putting it into practice at the face-to-face workshops, with feedback from your tutor.

The business of teaching
Insurance, pricing, finding work and growing a practice.
How it is delivered
Blended learning, with you supported throughout.
Blended learning gives you the flexibility to study in your own time and at your own pace, with expert guidance and practical, hands-on experience throughout.
The face-to-face workshops take place in our matwork studio in Poole, in a professional Pilates environment, so you practise the skills you will use when you teach.
You will also learn how to design and deliver a structured 10-session programme for bespoke one-to-one clients, so you can work confidently with both groups and individuals.

What qualification do I get?
A Level 3 Pilates Matwork Instructor qualification. Accredited by YMCA, endorsed by CIMSPA.
Do I need to be an instructor already?
No. A regular Pilates practice, and aged 18 or over. There is no need for prior teaching experience.
How long does the course take?
Around 6 months of blended learning. You study in your own time and at your own pace, and attend three practical workshops at our studio in Poole. The workshop dates for each intake are on the course dates page.
How much does it cost, and can I pay in instalments?
The course fee is £1,495. Book Now takes the full course price by card. Your place is confirmed when payment completes. Need to spread the cost? Interest free instalments are available on request. Use Enquire Now and we will agree a plan with you. If you book within a few weeks of the course start, the full price is payable.
When do I choose my dates?

What support do I get while I study?
Training manuals, online Anatomy and Physiology tests, the learner portal, a WhatsApp group for your cohort, direct access to your tutor and one-to-one sessions you can book for personalised support.
Is passing guaranteed?
No. You are supported throughout, with your tutor, your cohort group and one-to-one sessions you can book, but successful completion cannot be guaranteed.
What can I study after Matwork?
A Level 3 Pilates Matwork qualification is the prerequisite for our Reformer, Tower and Chair courses, so Matwork is the first step on the pathway.
